The Harmful Effects of Refilling Disposable Water Bottles
The government and many organizations are currently promoting the reduction of plastic use. However, it must be acknowledged that plastic materials are still used for various purposes. One example is disposable water bottles, also known as bottled water.
Disposable water bottles are designed for single use, but many people reuse them multiple times without realizing the health risks involved.
Plastic bottled water containers usually contain BPA (Bisphenol A). According to nationalgeographic.com, BPA is a compound that makes single-use water bottles sturdy and shiny. Unfortunately, this compound has been criticized for its toxic content. BPA is suspected of disrupting normal hormone functions and causing many dangerous health problems. Many studies have even linked this compound to breast cancer.
So, why is it not recommended to refill single-use water bottles? Because doing so can cause contamination of the water. Repeatedly opening the bottle can introduce bacteria. Moreover, the chemicals used in plastic production can leach into the water inside the bottle. Can you imagine how bad that is for your health?
From now on, avoid refilling disposable water bottles. Instead, opt for BPA-free plastic bottles or ones made from glass or stainless steel, becase our health is extremely valuable.
